History
Las Veletas is a traditional and ancient estate located in the dry-farming area of San Javier, in the Maule Valley, with vines up to 100 years old of the País and Carignan grape varieties. With the potential of these historic vines, the vineyard has worked to recover the old vineyards and develop new ones with more traditional grape varieties. This effort has been driven by its owner, Raúl Dell’Oro, in collaboration with the renowned winemaker Rafael Tirado.

Today, their País, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Mediterranean blends of Grenache/Carignan/Mourvèdre stand out, as well as their Cuartel Carménère, Cabernet Franc, and Carignan wines, which have received recognition and high scores from the international critics.

For Las Veletas, the freedom to experiment and make mistakes has been key to letting their imagination soar and achieving truly distinctive results. Produced in small batches, their wines are conceived with the sole purpose of enjoying them at home, toasting, and sharing.

Currently, out of the 340 hectares of the property, Las Veletas only uses 20 hectares for the production of their wines, while the rest is available for the sale of grapes to other renowned wineries in Chile.

Vineyard
It is located in the Alquihue area, San Javier, at the southwestern end of the Maule Valley, a traditional sector for vine cultivation, on dry-farmed soils where technology has played a fundamental role in developing small plots in the driest areas. The climate is dry Mediterranean during the ripening season, with cool Pacific Ocean winds that chill the afternoons. The soils are granitic and clay loam with low organic matter content, resulting in wines with medium growth characteristics typical of Mediterranean regions. Additionally, Las Veletas has terraced vineyards, following the Piemonte style. Grape varieties planted: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, País, Petit Verdot, Carménère, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carignan, and Viognier.
