History
Bodegas y Viñedos Korta was founded in the 1990s by the Corta Bucarey family of Basque origin, in the Maule Valley. It is specifically located in the Sagrada Familia Designation of Origin, renowned for its rural traditions and the exceptional quality of its soils and climate for viticulture.
In 1997, the marriage of Francisco Corta Gurruchaga and Amanda Bucarey Fuentes acquired the historic Santa Ana de Peteroa estate, one of the most emblematic in the region, where a memorial commemorates the death of the Mapuche chief Lautaro. With unwavering rigor and experience in the fruit industry, and with the assistance of expert advisors in viticulture and winemaking, they began planting grape varieties such as Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Carignan, among others. Today, Korta Wines produces wines with personality and territorial character, a family-owned company passionate about wine and committed to its region and its people.
Vineyards
Sagrada Familia
Over 180 hectares of red grape vineyards are located near the 35th parallel South, in the Sagrada Familia Valley. Surrounded by hills and with a very warm microclimate, their proximity to the sea allows them to benefit from the influence of coastal winds, resulting in a significant temperature difference between day and night. These unique characteristics are ideal for the quality, color, and concentration of red wines. Cultivated grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, among others.
Zapallar
30 hectares of white grape vineyards are situated at the foot of the Andes, in the pre-Andean region of the Curicó Valley, in the Zapallar area. The cooler climate allows for excellent development and production of white wines. Cultivated grape varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Roussanne, and Sauvignon Gris.
