History
Polkura is a winemaking project initiated in 2002 by two friends, Gonzalo Muñoz and Sven Bruchfeld, with the idea of creating an exceptional wine based on the exciting Syrah grape variety. Marchigüe, at the western end of the Colchagua Valley in Chile, was the chosen location for its enormous potential to produce this varietal. Polkura, which means "yellow stone" in the Mapudungun language, is the name of a small hill within the vineyard, referring to the abundance of yellow granite present in the clay soils of the area. This decomposed granite contributes mineral character and elegance to the wines, while the clay provides body and structure. The moderate coastal climate adds spiciness and fruitiness, resulting in wines that are refined, complex, full-bodied, and balanced.

Furthermore, Polkura is committed to the environment. Their motto "Wine with Purpose" motivates them to produce wines sustainably, aiming to take responsibility for the impact that uncorking any of their bottles generates, both in Chile and in the countries to which they export, including Canada, USA, China, Germany, Korea, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Colombia, primarily.

Vineyard
Located in Marchigüe, Colchagua Costa Valley, with 30 cultivated hectares, half of which are dedicated to Syrah. The soils consist of decomposed granite and clay of volcanic origin, very poor and ancient. The climate is Mediterranean with marine influence. Cultivated grape varieties: Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Tempranillo, Mourvèdre, Viognier.
