History
Viña Terruña is located in Magdalena Alto, Coelemu, in the heart of the Itata Valley, and it is born from the legacy and winemaking tradition of the Arteaga Parra family. Their vineyards have been in the family for eight generations and are part of the historic Hacienda La Magdalena, an important winemaking center since 1613 when it was managed by the Jesuits.
Today, it is the women of the family, Alicia Arteaga Parra, and her daughter Katherine Concha Arteaga, who are in charge of carrying on this exceptional terroir, driven by the passion to preserve the wine legacy. Their philosophy revolves around establishing a harmonious connection with nature, based on observation and understanding of its cycles and changes, to craft noble wines from ancestral grape varieties.
Vineyards
Centenary vineyards located in Magdalena Alto, in the Coelemu commune, Itata Valley, at an altitude of approximately 300 meters. They are cultivated organically, using the head-trained system of vine training. The climate is Mediterranean, with a northwest exposure for the Cinsault and País grapes, and a northeast exposure for the Moscatel de Alejandría and Chasselas varieties. The soils, with their red clay and steep slopes, are of interior dryland type, with significant marine influence for hydration, coming from the Itata River located 3 kilometers north in a straight line, and the Pacific Ocean, only 20 kilometers away.
Grape varieties planted: País, Cinsault, Moscatel de Alejandría, Chasselas.
