History
Viñedos Puertas is a family-owned company founded in Curicó, Chile, in the year 1950 by Mr. José Puertas Pons. Over the years, it has established itself as one of the most relevant wine producers in the central region of the country.
Today, the third generation of the family continues the winemaking legacy, crafting wines of quality and consistency that are appreciated in different parts of the world, from America to Europe and Asia. The wines of Viñedos Puertas have received accolades in important international competitions and have earned a prominent place thanks to their excellent value for money.
Vineyards
All the vineyards are located in the Curicó Valley.
Chile Chico, Palquibudis, Rauco Commune
Location: 35° 00' 50" S 71° 32' 07" W 359 m above sea level.
The vineyard is situated on a south-facing slope with clay-loam and sandy soils in the top 20 cm of earth, and it is surrounded by quillay trees. The soil has a good level of organic matter and slightly acidic pH, with 90 hectares of native forest. A correction is carried out every 3-4 years. The climate is temperate, with a temperature difference between night and day, and a forested hill on the north slope. Grape varieties planted: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Chardonnay, Lachryma Christi, Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah.
El Milagro, Convento Viejo, Curicó Commune
Location: 34° 58' 48" S 71° 16' 42" W 194 m above sea level.
The vineyard has flat soils with clay and sand at depth, irrigated with waters from the Teno River, originating from the Andes Mountains, with an acidic pH. The climate is temperate, with an east/west orientation. Grape varieties planted: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, and Sauvignon Blanc.
La Finca, Romeral Commune
Location: 34° 56' 42" S 71° 10' 43" W 256 m above sea level.
The vineyard has flat sandy soils, irrigated with waters from the Teno River, originating from the Andes Mountains. The soil has fast percolation. The climate is temperate, with an east/west orientation. Grape variety planted: Cabernet Sauvignon.
